Alcibiades set out to complete the story of the second call for dinner.
So he and Socrates can be found on a bed nearby. There is none. Even the servants were dismissed. The lamp is turned off. He feels now that we no longer procrastinate. Must say in all the things he cares about freedom! The
gently shakes and asks if he is sleeping, and make sure he is awake, he says simply that he seems that Socrates is really the only person worthy to be her lover, (sy Emoi dokeîs Emou erastes Axios gegonénai). Excludes - he added - because oddly Socrates does not take the initiative. It seemed strange that hesitate to mention it. However, this is his feeling! In fact to him, his teacher, he would not hesitate to offer what he needed, both economically and friendships, and therefore, what he wants completely pointless (anóeton pany) does not offer her favors "in this "(soi kai touto ou mè charízesthai), also at the level of love. It would be the completion of the report. That completion which would enable him to fully realize what he, Alcibiades, as being the most important thing for him, "become, as much as possible, better "(hoti béltiston heme genésthai). And to achieve this, there is no other than Socrates, who can really help.
No, he did not care anything about what ordinary people think, that does not understand. Sure, they are the majority. But he would not feel any shame for their disapproval. Indeed - Alcibiades says, not without finesse rhetoric - proves far more shame in the face of those who understand what is happening between them, these people make it a very strange, unjustifiable, to achieve its lofty goal, he did not grant all her favors to a man like Socrates.

The bite of the viper.

At this point of the speech Alcibiades stops: a need to make a clarification. Is going to say things that ... without wine is certainly not going to say. The wine - you know - it is always true (Oinos alethes). And so this wonderful action made by Socrates (Sokratous Ergon hyperéphanon), although closely affects some aspects of their private relationship, just does not go unmentioned. If you need to do the eulogy of Socrates, a fortiori it is not fair to keep it hidden.
Alcibiades also makes an interesting observation. In this moment - he says - I feel like someone has been bitten by a viper (dechthéntos hypo tou écheos), which - Com? Is known - does not like to talk about what he tried except by those who have had the same experience. Who knew the pain of (hypo tes odýnes) bite of the viper goes so far as to say and do all sorts of things (pan etólma dran you legein kai), also incredibly amazing things, and only those who lived very painful experience can understand and forgive his odd behavior. Yes - Alcibiades goes on - it happened to me: I was bitten at the point where the bite is more pain, no, not in body, but in the heart and soul (ten Kardiani is psychen): hit and bite (you plageís kai dechtheís) by speeches of Socrates, by his speeches on philosophy (hypo ton en philosophia logon); speeches, easily the most brutal of the viper (echídnes agrióteron), taking the souls of young people with (néou aphyoûs lábontai psyches me), and are do and say anything.
I say strange things. E 'philosophy that makes strange effects. And many present here who know something: Phaedrus, Agathon Erissimaco, Pausanias, Aristophanes and Aristodemo. And so Socrates. All of you are united (Pantes kekoinonékate) from the madness and fury of the philosopher (TES philosóphou Manias you bakcheías kai). But everyone can understand and forgive the things that I did and now I'm about to tell.

I invited him, then, to have dinner with me (tò syndeipneîn pros) just like a lover who tends to trap the beloved (hósper erastes paidikoîs epibouleúon).
Alcibiades then tells of the invitation to dinner. Rather, the dinner invitations.
No, it was not easy. Firstly, because he had to spend quite a lot 'of time before they convince to accept. And then when you finally decided ... was a pain!
The first time I was - says Alcibiades - went away as soon as they had finished dinner (deipnésas apiénai eboúleto). I am not opposed: in the end I, at that time, I was still a bit 'of shame (aischynómenos).
But the second time ... we put it all. After dinner I pulled out the conversation until late at night, and when his intention to leave, I told him I was already so late ... I might as well stay there. In short, forced him to stay (prosenágkasa autòn ménein).
And so was having a nap on the bed on which he had dined. That bed was right next to my (en tê echoméne Emou Kline). And in that room, except us, nobody was there (En To oikémati oudeìs kai allos katheûden is hemeîs)!

Alcibiades escalation continues with the story of his "conquest" of Socrates.
He urged, therefore, first of all to do with gymnastics (syngumnázesthai proukaloúmen autòn). Quite common at that time.
had confidence we stand together ... in this situation ... But he, no! Yes - he says - we were together, did gymnastics (synegymnázeto), and often the bodies were entwined in the struggle (prosepálaien). In short, there were all the right conditions! And then there was also often completely alone (pollákis oudenòs paróntos). And yet ...
What can I say? (Tí of legein;). Nothing more than that (Fr Leon Ouden moi en). No way, I just could not obtain anything!
Alcibiades said then he found himself thinking that ... one should not let it go. Did not give up. And so it was necessary he would change attitudes. Yes, Socrates would have had to impose by force (kata tò karterón)! And not just because until then he had put his soul into this thing, but also because it was necessary to clarify, once and for all!
Hence, the next initiative.

And so Alcibiades - with simplicity and, he said, with truth (of gar pros ymâs pánta talethê eipeîn) - describes the strategy adopted, the stages of progressive approach to Socrates. So, the first step was to ... get rid of the escort, "but before that I used to not be alone with him without a companion, then began to send away my companion i1. So he began to stay with him to be alone (monos mono synegignómen.

imagined that Socrates took the early initiative. Already enjoyed (échairon) at the thought that the teacher would immediately (autíka) started making with him the talk (dialéxesthai autòn moi) that a lover does to his beloved (Haperi àn erastes paidikoîs dialechtheíe), when they are secluded (en hermit).
But ... of all this (Touton) did not happen anything (bad ou egígneto Ouden)! And so, as usual, having spent the day and talk with me (moi kai synemereúsas dialechtheìs án), I left and went home (ócheto Apion).

Homemade Jerk Off Toy
A bloom of youth.
Edited by Giuseppe Tortora.

Alcibiades goes off to talk about his relationship with Socrates. A report erotic paideitico. Like activities in Eros greek-classical paideia and are closely and inseparably connected. It is said, the lover is committed to providing everything that helps the youth to grow, mature, intellectually and emotionally. The beloved is committed to providing its favors to the mature lover, and especially learning to follow his instructions. So, this is the meaning of the words of Alcibiades, "now what Socrates had to be ordered." Alcibiades
In the story that is going to make sure you find very personal aspects of the erotic relationship, but are also highlighted issues - it seems - Procedure codified in Athenian society. Like what ... the boy walks around accompanied, and there is only with the teacher only when he has - so to speak - made a formal report. That is the result of a double tendency attraction to one another.
Alcibiades said that as a young man he had a really amazing view of the flower of his youth. So, agl'inizi, he thought that Socrates could get serious about her beauty, her youthful grace this (espoudakénai epi tê heme hour). He thought that a full relationship with this man essay was a treasure not to be missed (hérmaion), an extraordinary fortune (eutýchema). He was really so convinced of the opportunity to grant her favors to Socrates, for the opportunity to listen and to just about everything he knew.

Yes, Socrates is just like the carved Silenus (hósper I geglumménos Silenos). One thing is its outer coating (éxothen), another is the internal (éndothen). Here, when one thinks of a lover, imagine the restless and without measure. Now, he certainly loves the handsome, but you can not imagine how much temperance (Poses sophrosýnes) and filling.
The attitude that characterizes it is detachment. Yes, it is sensitive to beauty. But "if one is looking (and tis Kalòs ESTI), he does not care anything (apples car Ouden). Does not involve its charm. Indeed, even the despised.
short, do not care just as nothing if not cared for the beloved has wealth (ploúsios), or if you enjoy those honors (Allen tina timèn echon) that make people happy town. "He thinks that all these goods have no value (pánta Tauta TY ktémata oudenòs Axia), and that we are nothing (Hemas Ouden einai).
is this detachment that makes him stand between the people with his humor (eironeuómenos). It is for this inner attitude that he, of the people you play (paízon).
But when you seriously ... when you open ... when he opens the casket of treasures ... I once, I saw the images that brings in (ta entòs agalma). Divine images (theia)! Pictures of gold (Chrysa)! All beautiful (págkala) and wonderful (Thaumast), point to leave amazed, slaves. It was necessary to do what he ordered immediately!
