Here 's warning, not dictated by a jealous love still dormant.
the entrance hall of the Symposium Alcibiades had immediately noted that the seating arrangements, Socrates was found lying next to Agathon. And now, in the fumes of wine, had called Socrates when he sees young beautiful ... In short, the old fox is not she let slip a!
He understood that Socrates now woo the bell'Agatone. He, too beautiful intelligence. So Alcibiades prepares sinking on Socrates, however, addressing the young master of the house, "These things I say to you, Agathon, (kai has de soi lego, Agathon) because you do not you be deceived by this man (me exapatâsthai Toutou hypo), but became aware of the things that we have suffered (apò ton hemetéron pathemáton gnónta), you do you're very careful (eulabethênai), you do not happen as in the proverb (kata ten paroimían): to learn - from improvident - after suffering "(hósper népion pathónta gnônai).
As you can see, a low blow.

then Alcibiades concludes his speech, as you mentioned, with a real vengeance.
that articulates with a complaint and a warning. The complaint

What he did with me - he says invelenito - did so again with Charmides, Euthydemus, and with many others! We were deceived!
same behavior. Hath been presented as lover, and then doing a flip, he tried to become the 'beloved . He began by simulating the behavior of research,'s desire, and then set things up so that it should be sought him, and desire.
No. He would not give himself to the disciple, but on the contrary, he wanted the disciples are giving him.
A serious complaint, then. Almost whispering.

Alcibiades ended his eulogy to Socrates. Given the relations between them, could not be his, a praise / blame. Reports from the point of view of Alcibiades, made of unsatisfied desires, joys mutilated, denials of expectations. Crossed, then, by hopes and disappointments.
Delusions ... Even Socrates, to tell the truth, he was disappointed with his disciple. He also missed expectations, expectations ... disregarded. This young man of great intelligence, and therefore with high hopes, was reluctant to a path of love, as Socrates meant, meant careful selection keen desire for knowledge and unfailing commitment to the "research". Socrates vainly waiting for the upcoming flick, Alcibiades was attracted by other things. He preferred the exterior to the interior, the appearance of substance, the success of the public to the joys of intellectual understanding.
But now the word keeps Alcibiades, who, in the end, he completes his subtle revenge. Lance loved his accusation of disillusioned and offended: Socrates is a bluff, is a crook. Who knows what makes you think, and then ... Promises you one thing and then change the cards the table.

Can You Trade From Soul Silver To Platinum

most divine.

As for speeches, no comparison. There is no other person like Socrates. To understand how things are - repeat Alcibiades - should be invoked ... Sileni and the Satyrs. His speeches
(hoi logo), in fact, resemble a great deal (homoiótatoí eisi) to Sileni (tois silenoîs), the statuettes that open (tois dioigoménois). Therefore, we must distinguish the external and internal.
They appear, at first (to protons), completely ridiculous (an geloíoi pany). Funny the words used (kai onoma), ridiculous expressions used (kai rhema). Socrates in fact does not talking about pack asses, of blacksmiths, of shoemakers, a tanner, and he seems to always say the same things using the very same words. So, who are not familiar with him, in the end, not understanding the object and purpose of what he says, his speeches can only laugh.
But this is only an outer jacket: like the skin of an arrogant Satyr (satýrou dé tina hybristoû doran).
If you can see them open (dioigoménous dè iDon n) ... if you can get in them ... No, not the usual speeches. They are the only ones, among those who listen, that inside have a thought (noun échontas Endon disposable ton logon). Speeches most divine (theiotátous)! Carriers, inside, a lot of images of virtue (pleîsta agálmat'aretês en hautoîs échontas). And then talk a broad spectrum: there is no aspect of human life that is not addressed. They discuss all those things right (epi pan) on which to reflect (Hoson prosékei skopein) who wants to become a perfect man: a man inwardly beautiful and good (to Mellonta kalo kagatô ésesthai).

Socrates is not similar to any man, especially for his speeches

Yeah. Socrates and there would be many other extraordinary things (thaumasite) to say. More than one hundred other reasons to praise him (epainésai).
Alcibiades puts it simply. But, as he himself points out, are all things that Socrates still has in common with other men, temperance, fortitude, wisdom, courage and pure ... Indeed, to some examples, the qualities of an orator Pericles can be - sure! - To compare with those of Nestor or those of Antenor. And the virtues of Achilles, in fact, I do not characterized exclusively.
And then there is something that is proper, only to Socrates? There is a virtue for which he is not similar to anyone? There is a quality that detects and characterizes Socrates so that no one he may be confronted?
Alcibiades found it. After all has been mentioned at the beginning of his strange praise of the master. The speeches (hoi logo). This is what makes Socrates be a extra-ordinary, a-normal (ten atopían). As for speeches, he is not similar to any of the men nor the old nor the contemporary (TON NUN oúte oúte palaiôn ton). His art of discourse is worthy of all wonder what (Toute Axion Pantos thaúmatos)!

Balance General De Boing

Retreating, yes. But head on.

Edited by Giuseppe Tortora.

same courage Socrates expressed on another occasion.
The Athenian army defeated by the Thebans withdrew to escape from Delio. Alcibiades and Socrates is found nearby. Alcibiades on horseback, on foot Socrates. All the soldiers had broken the lines. Fled in disorder.
Socrates, while burdened with heavy weapons, proceeded in an orderly fashion, along with Laches. Alcibiades hastened to urge them to take courage: he - he told them - would not abandon them. But Socrates had a strength of character ... Surely it was more than Laches
for presence of mind. And he walked with pride frown: head high and looked sideways friends and enemies. He wanted everyone, even from afar, to understand that if someone had attacked, he was ready to defend itself in time and place.
So did the "retreat", with his companion, displaying safety. Earning it the respect and admiration of all. "For those who behave in this way the enemies do not even touch him!"
enemies - you know - those who pursue and attack fleeing scriteriatamente.

premium to the value? Disconcerting.

Edited by Giuseppe Tortora.
E mail: tortora@unina.it

Alcibiades recounts the battle in which he was awarded the prize value (Emoi taristeîa édosan strategoi hoi). Well, just in that battle, Socrates saved him from death (oudeìs Allos heme ésosen anthropon is outos). He, Alcibiades, was wounded, but Socrates refused to abandon him to his fate. And so he managed to pull him to safety.
But the interesting thing happened next. A strange affair.
to him, Alcibiades, grateful and admired the courage of Socrates urges planners to give the prize to his master to the value. But to no avail. The strategists were adamant: they were willing to give it to him, the young Alcibiades. Perhaps in deference to his social position.
But the strange thing, because really unusual was the behavior of Socrates. Not taking into no account of any strain of pride and ambition, was the same Socrates to pressure because the prize was given to his young comrade. In short, it was even more thoughtful strategists.
How is it possible not to be admired in a man of this kind?

Citing this verse of ' Iliad IV, 242 Homer, Alcibiades is about to tell the strangest event in which he happened to attend.
One day Socrates is still standing, still, always in the same place. And throughout the night until dawn. Evidently thought (Phrontízon). Meditated. Research (skopôn). Or give up because he could not get to grips with the problem that is deep thinking. But when it was noon, everyone had already noticed the fact. And everyone began to comment on the matter of shock (thaumázontes). He arrived in the evening. Some soldiers ion, after supper, they brought out their camp bed. It was summer. And as he lay resting in a cool, they kept an eye wanted to see if was still there, standing all night. They were not disappointed. Socrates really stood, to think, until the sun rose at dawn. Only then addressed a prayer to the sun (helio proseuxánenos Tô), moved and went.

Nipple Piercing For Women

Potidea.

Edited by Giuseppe Tortora.
E mail: tortora@unina.it

Evidence of physical and moral force of Socrates, Alcibiades recalls some episodes of their life together in the military campaign of Potidaea.
What can I say? Labors - recalls Alcibiades - was superior to all. And then, when, remaining isolated from somewhere, it was left with no food, no one stood to resist starvation. No, not that he despised the pleasures of taste! Quite the contrary. When food supplies were abundant, was the only one who could really enjoy them. And also drinking beat everyone and when he pleased and when he had none. But: no man has ever seen Socrates drunk (Sokra methýonta oudeìs POPOTE heóraken anthropon).
And again, its ability to withstand heat and cold was amazing. There, at Potidea, the cold winters are terrible. Once, there was chilled truly extraordinary. All we tried to stay indoors. No one ventured to go out, and if needed it is necessary that you covered an incredible amount of clothing, and you protect your feet with shoes of felt or skins of lamb. And he ... He went out barefoot and covered with his usual cloak! It was moving on the ice better than all others, who had to walk in shoes. Stuff to really irritate the soldiers, who, by this attitude of Socrates, they could feel if not mortified, humiliated.

invulnerable.

Edited by Giuseppe Tortora.
E mail: tortora@unina.it

Alcibiades says it with clarity and bitterness. On the one hand, had the clear feeling of being despised by Socrates, but on the other hand, could not but admire his nature (ten physin).
A man of temperance (sophrosýnen) and firmness (Andreiana). An exceptional man for his wisdom (eis phrónesin) and fortitude (kai eis karterían). Difficult to assume a short
decided against it.
No, he could not hate him, to be angry with him in the end did not want to miss the opportunity of his guide, but could not find effective ways to lure him into its orbit.
invulnerable. Yes, Alcibiades knew that Socrates was as invulnerable to riches, but just did not think it was for love. So he was now in difficulty, without resources and without prospects. And yet continued to revolve around - as he himself admits - in a state of real slavery.

Parotid Gland Alcohol Pain

another hole in the water.

Edited by Giuseppe Tortora.
E mail: tortora@unina.it

Alcibiades, in the story that makes the guests, does not hide the bitterness of his disappointment. After all the things heard and said ... after he threw his darts ... was convinced of it hurt. Nonsense!
So ...
"I got up and, without letting him say anything, I asked him my coat on him, because it was winter. Then, too sdraiatomi under his threadbare cloak, embraced (peribalòn tò cheîre) this man truly demonic and wonderful (Tô daimon touto kai hos alethôs Thaumast). And ... I was there, so, all night (ten katekeímen nýktà holen). So Socrates
nothing! No giving up. Even in these efforts. So, with Alcibiades says despite mixed with admiration, even in these circumstances and conditions Socrates' was much higher. "
But Alcibiades can not fail to mention that this behavior of Socrates, his refrain, sounded like the contempt and derision, even as outrage, than he, Alcibiades, believed to be the best thing about it: the bloom of youth. It therefore urges and encourages the guests to a judge of the arrogance of Socrates (TES Sokratous hýperphanías)!
Nothing, then. Nothing at all. Alcibiades has sworn by the gods and goddesses (but theoús but thease): Close to Socrates, he just stayed. The next day, in short, got up without having done anything more than if he had slept with his father or his elder brother (Half PatroV is adelphoû).

Edited by Giuseppe Tortora.

Strong words, those of Socrates. And also strong opposition to the project of Alcibiades. Which can only reiterate his thoughts, and explain that what he said is exactly what he thinks. Whether or not feasible proposal, Socrates has to say. So: "You decide what you think is best for me and for you." But Socrates
...
remember the scene: it's night ... Alcibiades at the home of ... after dinner ... Socrates and his young disciple are lying on beds placed next to each other.
No, not the case to decide. This is no time!
And indeed Socrates adopts a strategy dilazionatoria. "We will decide in the days ahead," and so indeed "we will do what seems best for both of us, in this as in other things."

Weapons of gold and bronze weapons.

Edited by Giuseppe Tortora.
E mail: tortora@unina.it

Alcibiades - according to Socrates - would see in him an extraordinary beauty (améchanon Kallos) of a very different from its own beauty. Pleasant personality is that of Alcibiades (eumorphía), that of Socrates would rather just an inner beauty. So Alcibiades would "intensify" relations in the hope - or rather the illusion - To "share beauty with beauty" (alláxasthai Kallos anti kállous). So he - Socrates emphasizes by making a difference ironic - not just think to take advantage against him! In exchange for the appearance of beauty, he aspires to conquer the truth of beauty (kalon anti dóxes Aletheian ktâsthai epicheireîs)! Quoting verse elegantly
Iliad XI 514, Socrates adds, it would be like exchanging gold weapons with weapons of bronze (to Onti 'Chryse chalkeíon' diameíbesthai) yes, because my beauty has no value . So
urges Alcibiades. Look closer (ámeinon Skopea)! If you had looked really with the view of the mind, not what you would have escaped. The fact is that you noticed, then you are not yet able to carry that look. "The view of the mind (he tes dianoías opsis) learns to see acutely (árchetai blépein oxy), when the eyes (Hotan ommáton h t) begins to lose its sharpness (TES akmês legein EPIC), and you, from this, you're still far away (SY dè Touton Eti leek).

Alcibiades continues his story. At this
His attempt to speak out and to put his master pressed, Socrates by an unexpected reversal of the discourse. The replication of esteem received attributing all to the generosity of the disciple. But Alcibiades Socrates does not escape that is having, as usual, the irony (Mala eironikôs). If
- says Socrates - what Alcibiades alleges of him is true (despite eíper alumi tygkánei Hà légeis Emou perished), and then if he sees him as a force (TIS ést'en hemo dynamis) able to make it better (sy di'hês àn génoio ameínon), his words certainly testify that Alcibiades is really not just a man!
