Evidence of physical and moral force of Socrates, Alcibiades recalls some episodes of their life together in the military campaign of Potidaea.

No one ventured to go out, and if needed it is necessary that you covered an incredible amount of clothing, and you protect your feet with shoes of felt or skins of lamb. And he ... He went out barefoot and covered with his usual cloak! It was moving on the ice better than all others, who had to walk in shoes. Stuff to really irritate the soldiers, who, by this attitude of Socrates, they could feel if not mortified, humiliated.
